The Biggest Loser is a Loser!!!

I LOVE watching the biggest loser. It has good info and is inspirational to one who could afford a healthier life. After watching the latest episode and succumbed to advertising, I went to sign up with the biggest loser club only to find that they don't except people with Type I diabetes!!! RUDE!!! It was pretty cheap and I was excited to get a daily menu to start using, but alas my dumb pancreas does it again. I exercise on my own but don't feel like I am getting the most out of it because I feel like don't know what I'm doing. So dumb!!!!! ( I, of course will continue watching The Biggest Loser)

Gav and Liv were over the other afternoon so we made cupcakes with green food coloring and black and orange sprinkles.

Emmy and I had little photo shoot. Emmy loves to pose for the camera.
This girl LOVES her baby! I will find pools of whatever Emmy was drinking all over the floor because she wanted to, " share with baby." She also puts her to bed several times a day.
The following story is a result of this swollen, numb knee. Riley was scheduled for surgery. He went in had the "block" for his knee, had all the loopy meds and they were about to "put him under" when the nurse comes out to tell me, " We have a little problem." ( you NEVER tell that to a women who is waiting for her husband to come out of surgery and who's husband had just called you back to pre-op to make sure I knew where all of the Life Insurance information was. Granted he was under heavy meds at that point) Apparently, his doc was at the hosp in the middle of a surgery and passed out. We later found out he had the flu pretty bad. He had a very short, successful surgery the following week. All is well.

I could quote the hundreds of love songs I know or make a list of all of the reasons I love Riley. Honestly, I have thought about doing that. But my brain gets overwhelmed. A few nights ago Riley and I "stayed up way past mid-night" and had some great pillow talk. When I complain about money, school, callings he is asking me how he can be a better husband, dad, brother-in-law, scout leader. I could go on with situations like these forever but I need to get me zucchini bread out of the oven so I will say this. I can't believe I am married to the most amazing man I have ever met. A man though nearly terrified of singing will belt Aida at the top of his lungs because I love it, ( he's really not half bad). A guy who will do anything for anyone. Even if it's someone who is addicted to meth, alcohol, or is a schizophrenic and threatening to kill him. He is amazing and someday I will write a book about all the amazing things that make him so amazing. So to my dearest husband pf 4 fabulous years. I love you!!!

We had a great time at the beach, though we could have used another 5 days there. Many trips to the Tillamook cheese factory and lots of trips to the beach. I want to go back. Every time I am can't help but think about Linz and the time we went out on the beach in the middle of the night to talk about our latest crushes and then would see things walking out of the ocean at us.

Sherstine and I took a crazy fast trip to Rexburg last Saturday. Heidi sang in a concert wit George Dyer. Our family is his biggest fan and a few years ago Heidi, Jake, Aunt Lisa and I took a similar road trip to see him in concert. He is MARVELOUS! Sherstine was able ( and willing) to touch George's bicept in the picture of the four of us. She can't stop talking about it. Ask her... Heidi's choir unbelievable!!! BYU-I choirs are GREAT!!! I think they men's choir exceed's that of BYU's... no joke. It was a fun trip and we can't wait to see Heidi this week to go to the coast. We really wished Kaylene could have come as well but understand that she was big with child.
Jenna Lilly Waite was born July 11. She is SO cute and SO tiny. She has super dark hair and everyone agrees she look just like Lucy did. She has a bit of chub on her legs and really long toes. She is so adorable and will make even the most nonbaby person, baby hungry. We all love her and wish she could come play in the ocean next week.

We had a great 4th of July with an early ward breakfast where Riley gave a little devotional about what it's like to serve in the Army and women were crying (hopefully because it was good). We had a fabulous picnic at Wayne and Sybil's then we went to the park for fire works!!! I mostly was thinking about the military people who serve, especially Riley and how thankful I am for them. I have had my eyes opened to the military life a little and the sacrifices people have made. It may not be a perfect country with perfect leaders but I am so grateful for the life I have.
Shout out to my AMAZING husband and to my cousins Chris Hall, Eric Spjute, Randy Ball and Chad Borup! I love you all!

We had some much fun up at Cabin Creek. It was so beautiful and not too cold, (except for the first night) We stayed in our own little cabin, Moroni. The camp is a usual spot for YW camping. Each cabin had a Book of Mormon name. It was fun. Besides the amazing food, (homemade doughnuts, fried oreos, etc. ) I love my family and I love to hang out with them. I especially can't wait until July and we head up to the Oregon Coast! Did I mention we are SO happy that Riley is home?!?!?!?!!!!

Being so anxious for the previous 4 months of visiting Riley, I had high expectations of San Antonio and she delivered!

I walked off of the plan and immediately run to where I would get Emmy's stroller and spoke so fast to the bless-ed Mexican girl who helped me with my car rental she told me I would have to "slow down". I told her I can't. I called Riley just as the plane landed and wasn't expecting to see him that night because they have to be back by 8:30. His sargeant said if I got there before 9:00 I could see him for a few minutes. The plane landed at 7:45! I ran with luggage ( stroller, Emmy, HUGE suitcase, purse, and a filled to the brim diaper bag) in tow catch the shuttle to get the car. After jumping up and down on the drunk and giving it one or two "people's elbow" with all of my might so it would close, I asked someone the quickest way to base. Besides it being dark and I had opposite directions of what I had been told I decided to go the way suggested by a man who made me think of the words ' craw-dad' and 'yee-haa'. To make a long long story short, after much crying and yellings of, " Blast! I hate driving. I don't have any sense of direction. I HATE DRIVING!" I made it. Best reunion of my life. Riley pj's are short black shorts tucked into a T-shirt that says ARMY and a yellow reflective belt. Hot! I got to meet his 'battle buddy' Goff who I've heard about since basic training in South Carolina.

After a short reunion I was off. Fort Sam Houston is a HUGE base. It is it's own little town with it's own cemetary, Burger King, bowling alley, theatre, elementary and high schools. Riley told me the only way he knew of to get off of base. I got off base just fine. It tool me 2 1/2 hours of driving all around, in and out of San Antonio before I made it to our hotel. I thought I was going to DIE of frustration. I stopped 11 times to ask people where to go. The freeway system in comparison to Boise is like a drip of water to the Pacific ocean! Several different interstates over lapping, crossing and twisting. Turn arounds and turn abouts, slight merges and U-turns.... I'm sure I could have developed a much easier system. Not to mention it was "Fiesta" (a much bigger scale Boise River festival.) I ventured to base again the next day so that I could figure out where in the world I was going so when we picked Riley up that night we wouldn't spend all of our precious time driving around in circles. That trip it took me 1 1/2 hours to get back to the hotel. Woof! Finally Riley let me take his 'tablet' that has a GPS system where an angel from the most high tells you where to go exactly. You practically don't even have to think! With GPS in stowe it took me a grand total of 7 MINUTES to get from base to our hotel. Tell me about it...

After that we had the best time of our lives which consisted of swimming outside at the hotel, walking on the famous San Antonio River walk, Going to Sea World ( AMAZING!) and speding time with the most amazing Daddy in the world.

Emmy got really attatched to her daddy and everynight we had to drop him off on base the ride home consisted of Emmy saying, "Daddy?! Byebye? Daddy?" With big crockadile tears in her eyes. After much singing of "I'm so glad when Daddy comes home" (her favortie song) and telling her we'll see Daddy tomorrow she was okay. I feel so sad because she doesn't understand and probably thought she wouldn't see him again. Le weep.

I suggest for anyone who is anywhere near a Sea World to go. Shamu is my new favorite and Emmy still talks about seeing "Sa-moo" and how he "slash's" in the water.

June 3rd can't come fast enough but with a new house to unpack and going into nursery next month we'll hopefully have enough to keep us busy.

Emmy and I were able to go see Riley in San Antonio! The second I stepped of the plane I thought I would keel over from heat and humidity! It was nothing I have ever experienced before! I had a frightful first night which I'll have to explain later because I have been up since the wee small hours and I am exhausted. More stories and pictures to come. Can I just say my husband is UH-MAY-ZING?! I can. And I just did. Only 6 more Sundays until he's home for good!

I am so grateful to have Emmy a part of our family. Especially, since Riley has been gone. I would have gone crazy a long time ago if it wasn't for her. She is so sweet and I love her so much and can't wait to have more!

To Run or Not to Run? Is it even a question?!!!!

Last year along with my sister and bro.-in-law I ran/jogged in the Idaho Potato race. I did a 10k. I accidentally stopped training two weeks prior so it was a hard race, but fun. For whatever reason, this year I have decided to do a half marathon ! I wanted to get inspired so I looked up some quotes about running. Here's what I found:

Trying to Keep Busy Without Daddy!

Life without Riley is hardly bearable. But we try to keep busy to make the time go by. We're so grateful to be living with Grandma and Grandpa Spjute. Not a day goes by that Grandpa is home that I find Emmy with a treat in her hands. One of these day I hope Emmy decides she wants to sleep again. This week she's been up on average 3 hours a night. Oh, joy. Riley finished basic yesterday! He will be heading to Texas in a week for his training as a trama field medic. He said it is a mandatory work out in the morning and the rest of the day is just like college. He'll be able to e-mail and call more often. YES!!! We miss him terribly....

The Holidays

Riley was able to come home a week before Christmas and was able to stay until Jan 3rd. It was wonderful to see him but AWFUL to say good-bye , again. Riley brought me home a nice case of strep B that we both had through the holidays. He got pneumonia his 3rd week at basic and, I don't think, ever fully recovered. Though we felt awful we had a great holiday season and can't wait until we see Daddy again, (only 162 days till he's home!!!)

Military Wife.

Many 'a time I have heard the term but never really thought much about it. Now I am one. First, don't take it the wrong way... Riley is amazing for what he is doing for our family. We have already received many blessing because of his service. I love him for it! HOWEVER, this separation business is not for the weak hearted. The first 5 weeks seemed like months and it has been 2 days since he left from Christmas break and this next 6 month stretch I feel will be a doozy.
Funny story, sort of. Riley, Emmy and I were at the airport. It was time to say goodbye. The tears that had been flowing the past 12 hours now started to POUR! As we are giving our last hurrah this darling, ( I use the term lightly) lady comes over and practically pulls us apart saying, " I don't mean to interrupt but I just wanted to thank you for your service." Grabs Riley's hand and shakes it. Them starts saying some mummbo jummbo to me while I am trying to wipe the tears and snot off my face to get what's going on. She said something like she knows it hard... That;s about all I got but I was mad at her for making me do the goodbye hug all over again. A woman can only take so much!!!!
I think about my cousin-in-law Tanya who has spent more time away from her husband than together since they've been married and I say I have it easy.
If my dear Linz were here she would pull out her Rosy the Riviter poster, pull her "guns" out and tell me to be like Rosy. So, I will roll up my sleeves and attempt to servive another day without my hubby. Only 165 days to go...

Gas Chambers!!!

After much searching I found the Delta Company 2-39th ( the company that Riley is in) facebook page. These are the only pictures he's in. I believe they are being prepped for "The Gas Chamber". How intimidating! They all enter this building in gas masks, take them off and have to exit in an orderly manner keeping their wits about them. In a previous letter Riley said he was looking forward to this! We'll see what he says after experiencing it. In the second to the last picture he is sitting on the second bench from the bottom on the very left. In the very bottom picture he is on the very right, sitting on the bench on the right. The others are just some of the people suffering from his company. May I apologize to these people for flaunting them on my blog, especially Burdick. Sorry Burdick.( Click on his picture to get the full effect). I thought Riley would have less hair. I am pleased he doesn't. 13 days and counting!!!
p.s. I feel like the rest of these kids look like they're 12!!!!

Happy Birthday Emmy!!!

We celebrated Emmy and Riley's birthday on the 8th before Riley left for Basic. We had two parties. One with the Grays and one with the Spjutes. They were both a lot of fun. Emmy got 3 dolls along with lots of other awesome toys. This morning I made pancakes for Emmy while she wore her birthday crown. She ate three!! Then we went to lunch at Olive Garden with Grandma Spjute, Aunt Kaylene, Lucy and Uncle Jake. Emmy had breadsticks and an ice cream sundae she shared with cousin Lucy. I also found her getting into some birthday mischief pulling out the wipes...i always know when I didn't close the lid hard enough.
Emmy has been walking for just over a week! She has 11 teeth, 4 of which are molars! She is drinking through a straw as of yesterday and hardly ever takes a bottle. And she's potty trained!!! Just kidding, I only wish.
I am so grateful for Emmy and the special, sweet spirit she brings into our lives. I am especially grateful for her as Riley is away and I get to talk to her about everything I would usually tell Riley! Happy Birthday, Emmy! Mom and Daddy love you!

It has been just over a week since Riley left for basic training. Without getting too mushy I miss him like CRAZY. I cry at least 5 times a day and when I look at Emmy too long it makes me think of him and then I just start crying more. It's a vicious cycle. I talked to him yesterday and he said he had to be in the "push-up" position for about 1/2 hour. Hopefully he won't have to do anything like that for his birthday. Just for my sake,...Riley you are the best man I've ever known. I love you more than anything and can BARELY wait until December 17th at 9:24pm when your plane lands in Boise I get to hug and kiss your face off. Happy 30th BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!

My sister Sherstine and her hub, Wayne have started the P90X challenge! This post is dedicated to them. I ran a mile today if that means anything...

Last Friday we swore our lives away to "The Man". Private Riley Gray is in the Army National Guard! It's been a long journey to get here as we started to enter into the Navy last Fall and now here we are in another branch. Until he leaves for Boot camp he will be doing weekends( one weekend a month) at Gowen Field here in Boise. He leaves November 9th for his 10 week boot camp in South Carolina then heads to San Antonio Texas for 17 weeks at Fort Sam. while he trains for his position as medical corman. Then he gets to come home, go to school for free and become a Captain in the ROTC prgram at BSU. The Army deployment is every 5 years for 1 year. They are heading out this September so he will miss the deployment and they will only have abou 3 months left when he gets back from training. There will be a slight possibility he may go for those 3 months but we are praying for the best! I am an expensive diabetic and I am so glad Riley is willing to do anything for my dumb supplies and to take care of our family and get an education. He is amazing and I love him a whole heap!!! Today he is supposed to be running and 8 1/2 minute mile. We'll see how that goes. He looks SO good in his uniform by the way. Pictures of that to come.

I was folding laundry today and Emmy was being a bit needy wanting me to hold her all of the time. So I got creative... I think she approved as she gave Daddy a thumbs up!

A few weeks ago in church Emm was a bit fussy during our first hour. So we gave her a sacrament cup to play with. She popped it in her mouth and kept it there for a good 10 minutes! We have tried many a binky but she just never liked them. I guess next time we'll go straight for the sacrament cup!

I was able to be a part of BLT (Boise Little Theatre) last year and was the musical director for their musical, " You're a Good Man Charlie Brown". It was SO much fun. I got to work with some really fun people. I was asked to be the musical director for nonother than the ultimate classic, White Christmas!!!! I am really REALLY excited. With Charlie Brown there were only 12 people in the cast and now I think there will be close to 25-30. Good times to be had. And who doesn't want to listen to Christmas music in July? I know I do!

Emmy was 6 months old last Saturday. She is the sweetest little thing with a funny little squak. She loves her daddy and loves, LOVES to stand and HATES to be on her tummy. If I believed in reincarnation Em would be a fish in her next life. She loves to be in the water. She especially loves her "Joe duck". A little rubber ducky Riley decided to buy because it is holding a football and has a football helmet on and a green jersey. Joe Montana... She loves to go on bike rides with me and play "scary daddy" under the blanket. She likes prunes. She loves being with Grandma and Grandpa and especially loves blanket rides with Pappa. We love Emmy and are so grateful she is in our family!!!

A Race, A Wedding, and a Recital

Wayne, Sherstine and I ran the great potato race last Saturday. It was LOTS of fun. Sherstine got some great looks running a 5K being 7 months prego. I ran the 10K. It was lots of fun.
My cousin Ryan and Audrey were married a few weeks ago. It was great! It was especially fun to see my cousin Eric and his wife who live in Hawaii. I also liked the chocolate covered strawberries.
Liv had a "Let's play music" recital. She was the best, naturally. We're excited for her to start learning the piano next year. She already knows solfege as well as I do!! Way to go Livia.
And of course we need some pictures of Emmy and Zoot.

The Best Most Addicting Salsa EVER

Make it, eat it, love it, CRAVE it!!!

1 can black beans (rinsed and drained)
1 can white, whole kernel corn (rinsed and drained)
2-3 large tomatoes-diced
2 ripe avocados-pitted and diced
Small bunch of green onions-finely chopped
Small bunch of cilantro-finely chopped
1 packed of Good Seasons Zesty or Regular Italian dressing(prepare
as directed)

Add vegetables to prepared dressing, mix thoroughly.

Serve as a dip for chips. Sherstine and I eat it by the spoonful!!!

Three months sure has come and gone very quickly. Friday night, Emmy slept through the night for 10 hours!!! It was truly a miracle. Has it happened since? No, but we are hopeful! She is sleeping right not with the blow dryer on in her buzzy chair. Lately, she sucks on her fists and fingers. She loves it. Sometimes she will be sucking on her fist, then open her fingers, gag herself and throw up. We are nearly out of pj's that don't squish her toes. She's growing up so fast. Riley always says he can't wait until her can throw her around. Oh, dear.
We love our little Em and can't wait for the months/years to come!

things i LOVE about Linz...

-she loved peeps
-she taught me how to dive off of the high dive...after patiently waiting for 20 mins at the end of the board with me
-she had great legs
-she had a visible four pack
-she never had anything mean to say about anyone,... unless you are the married guy who asked her out on a date
- she taught me how to make paper boats
- when i got a bad grade on a test she would by me chocolate milk
- she had hard, calloused hands from ALWAYS working so hard
-she was always the first to do something new. if it was awesome, she'd tell me about it
-when she was fasting she would spend at least five minutes spitting out all the water after brushing her teeth being sure not to swallow anything
-she loved shells and cheese with me
-every girl wanted to be her and all the boys wanted to date her
- she carried me piggy back on the ice after i fell on my crutches
-she always did everything 110%
-we almost got arrested together and laughed about it after the shock wore off
-i spilled purple finger nail polish on her mom's couch. she put masking tape over it and flipped the cushion
- we once thought we were drunk off of water
-she always gave people the benefit of the doubt, even the "ankle biters"
-she stretched out my favorite brown shoes and tried soaking them in water to get them to shrink back up. i still have those shoes
-she made green taffeta look good
-she congratulated me when i was fired from HONK'S
-when we thought we were drowning in the ocean getting sucked out farther and farther she pushed me toward the shore and said, "save yourself!"
-we talked for hours about nothing, anything and everything and did the same thing the next night
-when obnoxious, nerdy boys came over she fed them biscuits while i hid in my room
-she introduced me to AIDA
-in my eyes she was a professional at everything

I could go on and on, but for now i'll stop. i think about you everyday and sometimes hold Emmy just a little but longer because i know she was with you just a short time ago. Every time i make a four layered cake i will think of you.

Emmy was blessed on the third and wore the same dress that I was blessed in. We thought about getting her a new dress but decided just to have her wear this one. She looked liked a little doll. The week before Riley was telling me that he was nervous and didn't really know what to say. On the way to the church that morning we were practicing and Riley said, ".. her name will be Emmy Jane Gray." And I starting yelling at him not to even think about doing something I would punch him for. He did it correctly thank goodness. We were really grateful to have Riley's friends Toby and Aaron there and especially his parents. We are so grateful for good friends and a GREAT family!

Since Erika and Riley don't post enough I broke into their account to put up a couple of pictures of Emmy that I had. Her super chubby cheeks are slimming down a bit which is sad but she is still adorable. She went into the doctors the other day and the doctor said she has an irritable bowel which is why she screams out in pain alot. Sad. But they are figuring it out and she is sleeping and acting much better lately.

Emmy is eight days old and all the the I.V.'s have been removed, she's eating on her own from a bottle, she is keeping steady blood sugars by herself and her Bili Rueben (spell? her jaundice) levels are decreasing. She is doing great!! Riley has to all but drag me away from the NICU to go home and sleep. We can't wait to have her home! Riley and I are hoping by Sunday but I have a feeling it will be a lot sooner!

With Erika almost crippled, I think that I, Riley, will post some pictures so all of the inquisitive people out there can see our brand new beautiful baby girl. Emmy Lynn Gray, Lynn for Erika's cousin Lindz, and Emmy for all of the award shows that we love to watch...........Bad joke I know.
She was 35 weeks so about 5 weeks early but, she was also 7 lbs. 10 ounces and 20 inches long. She might have been earlier than we thought but definitely not small. She will be in the NICU for next little while but the Docs and nurses tell us that she will be just fine. We will keep the news coming as we go. Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers.

A Monkey Update

As some may have notice, Riley affectionately calls our little no-named girl, Monkey.
I went to the doc yesterday and I gained a whomping 4 lbs the past two weeks! Yikes! That brings my grand total to 15lbs. I'm told that's good. I still have the Thanksgiving experience so we'll just see how disciplined I can be around all the goodies.
I am 32 weeks and am measuring at 36 centimeters! I became a little concerned wondering if I was carrying a large dinosaur instead of a baby. But without getting into the yucks, I have extra fluid according to my last ultra sound and the docs not worried so neither am I. We're looking at December 21st or 22nd for a due date! The time has flown and I have been very blessed with, I think, a rather uneventful pregnancy. With only one throw-up on record (because I smelled olives) and only one purchase of maternity pants, (I great have sisters and friends who have donated clothes to 'the cause') I consider myself in a quite blessed and happy state.

Albeit a diabetic's worst nightmare, I have been able to stay away from the sweets pretty well. My poor husband has never at the adventures of trick-or-treating because of his being raised JW. But we will not judge him. Now, he and our little "monkey" will share their first trick-or-treating experiences together!
If you're confused, Kaylene is The Devil Wears Prada (ask her), Liv is Alice, Gavin was first Woody then a pirate due to snug fitting the first go 'round, Riley a Korean man wearing Korean clothes from Dad's mission. And can I just say he nearly started crying when I had to put eye liner on him. I mean come on! Just like last year when he was a cheerleader. Maybe we'll do a no make-up costume next year. And I was a gumball machine.

It's been a long time since I've updated, I know. I wish I had a good excuse but I sure don't.
We found out in July we are having a little girl! No names yet... hopefully we'll decide on one sooner rather than later.
The doc says I'm due January 1st. The ultra sound says December 31st.
The ultra sound photos revealed a squirmy little baby who crosses her legs, taps her toes and appears to have long little legs. Riley wants the Spjute tall genes to come out.
We're both very excited and are anxiously awaiting the days to come.
I wonder what she will look like...

I Iwould like to shout from the roof-tops how much I love Riley. Instead, I will post a blog just for him. Here are just some of the millions of reasons why I have the greatest husband...

He makes me home made dinners that surpass anything I could get in a restaurant

When I want to drive, he let's me

When I can't sleep, he plays with my hair until I am

When I eat fruit, he moves to the other couch...instead of throwing up

He makes best friends with complete strangers that I consider truly strange

He always wants to pick-up hitch-hikers

When I'm sad, he's sad

When I make "surprise dinners" he takes two helpings even though I know it tastes bad

He gives me flowers just because

He sings duets at the piano with me

He eats brown rice instead of white because I ask him to

Kerma D. Craner Bernard Kerma D. Craner Bernard, 83, of Boise, Idaho passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 surrounded by her family. Kerma was born Sept. 29, 1925 in Emmett, Idaho, the sixth of seven children born to Delwin Ernest Craner and Margaret Jane Tadlock. Kerma was educated in Emmett schools where she was active in music, playing the clarinet in school bands and singing with her sisters around the Treasure Valley. She not only worked for the family business, Craner Shoe Store, but became quite the baker and cake decorator at the local bakery. She made many wedding cakes for family and friends over the years. She attended Utah State University for a year until she returned home to help her father with the family business while her two brothers were serving in WWII. At age 13, she spotted a tall, handsome, young man and knew immediately he was the one for her. On Feb. 9, 1946, she married Calvin McCan Bernard and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. Following the profession of her husband in law enforcement, she became a Deputy Sheriff for Elmore County for nine years. She also worked in the Magistrate Court System in Twin Falls and Ada Counties until she retired with her husband. They then began serving in the Boise Idaho Temple until Calvin passed away in 1990. Kerma and Calvin were the parents of three daughters. They lived in Emmett, Mountain Home, Pocatello, Twin Falls and Boise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; daughter, Andrea; brothers, Keith and Darwin; sisters, Ruth, Marjorie and Becky; and her mother, father, and step-mother, Freda. Surviving Kerma are daughters, Kathy (Rick) Hall of Twin Falls and Karen (Scott) Spjute of Boise; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley (Cal) Bowen of Emmett. We wish to thank all of the caring people and physicians that blessed the lives of Kerma and her family during her illnesses. We gratefully thank Dr. Newcomb, Dr. Kent, Dr. Patterson, St. Luke's Hospital, Boise Care and Rehab, Meyer Manor, Sun Health Hospital, Capitol Care Center, and all their staffs and the Hearts for Hospice family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at the LDS Chapel, 3200 Cassia Street, Boise. Grandma Bernard Passed away this morning at about 11:00am.
This is the pink hat she wouldn't take off for a couple of days. Man she loved that Hercules.
This was a picture of her and I last Thanksgiving. I know it's kind of blurry but I liked it.
She is a stubborn little lady who loved her grand-kids. But even more, she love my grandpa, "Cal". I remember when Grandma and Grandpa would take us to lunch for our birthday. Grandpa would like to steal our french-fries.
After Grandpa passed away, I was only five, Grandma liked to take us with her to go clean his head-stone where he was buried in Emmett. It seemed she would dump a whole bottle of baby oil on it to clean it off. After that we would visit Andrea's grave, my aunt who died a few days after being born. Then she would usually always take me to the Shamrock resurant and we would get BLT's with a pickle on the side.
Grandma Bernard made the best stew EVER! I remember going to her house and playing the ATARI (spelling?) and eating he delicious vegetable stew. Meanwhile, Kaylene and Sherstine would be sitting in the middle of the room with their hands tied behind their back for fighting.
Before Gradnma would go to bed I would go in her room and we would soak our faces in witch-hazel followed by a good lather of Oil of Olay lotion. I loved to do facials with Grandma.
Before I was diagnosed with diabetes Grandma, who had Type II diabetes, would have me prick my finger to see what my blood-sugar was. None of my other sisters liked to do it but I didn't think it hurt too bad. I believe she best prepared me for the years to come of pricking my fingers.
Yesterday at the care center everone had left but my Dad and I. He had wondered off to go find a book to look read. I remember feeling the Spirit very strong in Grandma's room. I told her I loved her and to tell Lindsey "Hi" for me when she saw her. I know she heard me.
We will miss Grandma but are so glad she is with her sweetheart Cal, her Mom and Dad, her daughter and many other family members that have been gone for quite some time.

My manager at work got to go to a fitness luncheon at St. Al's yesterday and she brought back a flier that got me into a free work out with Tony Horton (P90 & P90X founder, work out DVD's) and SIREN from American Gladiators! I definately took advantage of this in spite of the early hours of sweating I don't usually do on a Saturday morning. SIREN was very fierce and she-man looking in her postcard that she signed for me but in person she was quite petite and not quite as endowed if you know what I'm saying. She was really nice and had an amazing bod! Oh if only! I got a pic with Tony and he said, "Sweet! You're promoting ice cream while working out." I laughed awkwardly and thought, "Geez! Is it that obviously that I have an ice cream now and then?" But after the fluttering stopped from touching the medical marvel of a sculpted body I remembered I was wearing my Maggie Moo's Ice Cream shirt from when I worked there in high school.

We had a family picnic last weekend at Municipal Park mostly to welcome home my cousin Chad from his mission. Riley, Heidi and I walked through "the fish place" and took some pictures with the animals in the museum. For some reason I remember just walking through the path and seeing huge fish behind a glass window. Most fish having huge worts on their face. There were fish behind glass just in a big pond. But there was the little wild life reserve with stuffed bears and mountain lions. It was fun.
I went to a shoe party tonight with some girls from work. I love shoes. 3 pairs of shoes for $31, Not bad. Not bad at all.

Baby or Dog... What a Toss Up

Lately I have been getting very upset at myself because my once big, comfy jeans are the ones that only fit if I put them on in the wee small hours of the morning when I haven't eaten in a good 7 or 8 hours. Le weep! I feel like a chubby baby who has nothing to do but eat and sleep. The true test is if I ever get mistaken for a pregnant lady. Heaven help me if I get asked when I'm due. I'll say " I'm due for lipo suction procedure tomorrow and I'll run away crying.
Riley is on call this next week. This means he gets about two calls every hours during the night to ask permission to do anything with the clients. (Riley is over the staff and the staff are over the clients who have numerous handicaps from MS to cerebral palsy. The worst of this situation is that the staff pages him and the Riley calls back whoever pages him. the pager either has a beeping sound that sounds like a fire alarm or a vibrator which sounds like a sick disposal. So in the middle of the about 2x an hour I am awakened thinking I am in a large fire or that I have put a fork down the disposal again. What a week it will be. Luckily he is only on call for a week every three months or so.
Riley has been on my case about getting a dog. I just don't want to be that house that right when you walk in you can smell dog and see the blanket of fur on our furniture. Woof. He says it will prepare us for children. I just don't know what to say to that.
I have received quite a bit of grief from my last blog and stating the amount of moo-law we roughly have in our account. No one told me why it was un-cooth (mother) or why I should refrain from doing such things. So the inquiring minds, including my sisters and mom, will never again know of the stash we have. You'll just have to wonder!

What a "crack" up

Good Evening!
My dear husband wanted to have a little glory to add to the blog so he decided he would be in charge of the pic on the right as I'm sure he will change periodically. This picture of bums, I'm sure is just a beginning to more artistic wonders such as this one. Riley and I just went to Mongolian BBQ and then to Albertson's where earlier today we bought 21 boxes of cereal for the cheap price of $15. Corn flakes and frosted mini wheats galore.
I am probably the richest I have ever been. Before the title of my life was "necessity is indeed the mother of invention" as you may soon discover as you walk into our home and see a Happy Birthday Barbie card with pink fluff on it and see it's use for decoration on the fridge. What a beauty. Now I can decorate with painting kits from Family dollar and the dollar store.

I would not feel like a true married mormon girl if I did not soon become a blogger. This is how I decided to become a blogger:
I am home alone. Freshly out of the shower, ( I wish my hair dried straight and shiny) waiting for my dear husband who left me early this evening to go play Texas hold 'em with some guys at work. I told him he could only gamble our goodies from the house so I wouldn't eat them. ( The Gray's house of goodies consists of an empty bag of circus animal crackers with about 100 sprinkles in the bottom and a WinCo bag of sugar-free, chocolate covered pretzels.) I hope he wins. I checked both of my sisters blogs, looked for a scooter on e-bay and felt the impression to start another project. Some of my other projects consist of scrap booking, reading vampire love novels, and other romantic endeavors. "There is a vail covering the ways of feminine life, best left undisturbed"- Little Woman.
I will soon reveal some pics of Riley and I and put some great songs so when you enter my blog you can't help but to throw your arms in the air and sing, sing, sing. Riley gets mad at me for sing too loud. He hasn't accepted that part of me yet...he will .
My sister, bro-in-law and only niece an neph. are in the middle of a tornado so I'm a little worried. If that scene comes to them hopefully they will find a water pipe sticking up out of the ground, take of Wayne's belt and strap themselves to it while they are being sucked up a vortex of terror.
Well, I need to call my hub and make sure he hasn't gambled away are livelihood. Till we meet again.(I'm quite curious who I'm really talking to)
